The biggest game of this week was the showdown of the AFC West between the Oakland Raiders and the Denver Broncos. The Raiders tried to rally after getting shut down by the Redskins’ defense, but the flew into the mile high altitude to face another monster. Derek Wolfe was howling to bury Marshawn Lynch and the Oakland running game. Denver’s run defense last year was ranked 28th in the league, and this year improvements were made and now it’s the best defense in the league all around. Denver’s offense looked outstanding against the Chargers and also the Cowboys before getting busted by the Bills in week 3. Now they had to face Khalil Mack and even though it wasn’t their strongest performance and was unable to put the game away, they did enough to stay in the game and gave defense a calm edge to win the game. Derek Carr left the game with an injury in 3rd quarter but later was reported that it was not a long term injury. With Oakland getting stomped by hungry Broncos are looking up to beat the undefeated Kansas.
The Pittsburgh steelers and the Baltimore Ravens have been bitter rivals since the Ravens joined the league in 1996. This weeks matchup was no competition with the Steelers winning 26-9. “Big Ben” Roethlisberger had 216 passing yards completing 18 of 30 passes and a touchdown. Le’Veon Bell had himself a game and scored 2 touchdowns and carried the ball 35 times for 144 yards. The Ravens have been off their game since week 2 because this is their second straight loss. Joe Flacco threw 2 interceptions and the Ravens run couldn’t get started they only had 85 rushing yards all together. The Ravens got absolutely shut down this week hopefully we’ll see them bounce back next week.
Bills shocked every single NFL fan last week by running over the best defense in the league and this week they upset the strongest team in NFC. Atlanta Falcons came in with all weapons packed. During the game Matt Ryan lost his 2 strongest weapons Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu. Tyrod capitalized on the exploited Falcons team as he went on to throw 1 touchdown on this low scoring affair and throwing for 182 YDS. Bills now sits on top of the division with New England buried under New York Jets with even record of 2-2 and Bills being 3-1.
Tom Brady had a terrific comeback last week and he did it this week too, if it wasn’t for the exploited defense that could not stop Cam dabbing into the field goal range and snatching the comeback game label straight from Tom Brady’s head. Cam Newton dismantled the defense throwing for 316 YDS and 3 TDS. Malcolm Butler is nowhere to be found this week and the snatch from Bills’ Stephon Gilmore is also not a big show. Kelvin Benjamin also had a great game catching 104 YDS. Tom Brady is still Tom Brady but that defense is not and that’s enough for the other 31 teams to pull off an upset now in Boston. If New England wants get back in the conversations of Super Bowl they must fix all the holes on that defense and knowing Patriots coach, it will take place but this week is short week for them as they go into face Tampa’s suited Buccaneers.
HOUSTON, THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED? The long drought of not having a quarterback is finally over with Deshaun Watson, so far the way he is playing the answer is yes! Houston Texans just put up a 57 points burger on a playoffs predicted team and their quarterback had no answer for the rookie’s team. While Marcus threw for only 96 YDS and also 2 interception and the rookie on the other had a big day throwing for 283 YDS and 4 TDS. The way Houston played against Patriots despite a loss was an indication that this team had the power to become something this year with a kid out Clemson! With Colts not having any kind of luck this season this year, it will be a division battle between Jaguars ,Titans and the Texans. With first game in the book between the two team a statement was established that this team is ready with a quarterback.
The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a hold-your-breath-last-second-of-the-game-61 yard game winning field goal win last week to the Giants and now travel all the way to Carson, California (haha Carson Wentz won in Carson, CA) to play the Los Angeles Chargers. The Eagles started off fast like always taking the Lead in the first half and almost let the Chargers comeback in the second, but was able to hold them off winning 26-24. Carson Wentz had 242 passing yards and a touchdown in the win. Philly’s running game was on point this week combining for 214 yards and 42 carries coming from Wendell Smallwood, Corey Clement, and a crazy 68 yard run from LeGarrette Blount.
A thriller end in the desert ends in OT! The winless 49ers come into the desert to take on the thirsty for a win Cardinals. The regular timed game was combined with nothing but 9 FG’s and the game entered the overtime thriller. Brian Hoyer suffered a blow but later came back out to compete and carried his team to a field goal in the over time putting them up by 3 points only leaving 2:15 minutes to pull off an upset. Carson Palmer looked so poised to win the game and he was just slinging it out there for his receivers. He threw for 357 YDS and a game winning touchdown to Larry Fitzgerald to win the game. Now tied for the second place in NFC West against Seattle.
One of the strangest win came in the biggest stage in AT&T stadium where, Los Angeles Rams and Dallas Cowboys. Dallas came in this with a big picks to win this game and that’s what it seemed like it was going to happen but then came 2nd half and Jared Goff and offense just took off with the help off defense provided by the genius defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. Jared Goff threw for 255 YDS and 2 TDS to get the win over Dallas Cowboys. Dallas now buried in the crazy NFC East is now looking up to Eagles like last year at this time but a spark from Elliott can change the whole momentum and for the Los Angeles Rams in a unfamiliar territory of taking the first place job is to keep that place in hold for upcoming weeks.
