After two years of dating, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got engaged late August this year, in a garden in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Swift said she “shed some tears” and Kelce admitted to having “sweaty palms.”
Swift and Kelce officially announced their engagement on August 26th, 2025, posting on Instagram with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” Her engagement ring is estimated to be a D-F level bezel set (read more), around 7-9 carats, which is about $250,000 to $500,000.
After the engagement, Kelce and Swift were seen together at Arrowhead Stadium where Kelce first asked Swift to be his girlfriend. Swift was then later seen attending Kelce’s first home game of the National FL 2025 season, with the Chiefs running up against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, September 14th. Sadly the Chiefs lost 17 to 20, so maybe the good luck Swift has brought to the Chiefs has run out?
Perhaps Vice President of the United States JD Vance’s opinion on their engagement had something to do with it? As a longtime Cincinnati Bengals fan, Vance recently warned referees about potential favoritism towards the Chiefs with concerns that they would have a “Super Bowl Wedding.”
He continues on: “I will say as a football fan−as a Cincinnati Bengals fan−I hope that the NFL does not put a thumb on the scale for the Kansas City Chiefs just because Travis Kelce is now getting married to maybe the most famous woman in the world,” Vance said in an interview with USA Today. However, he supports their relationship and is happy to see them get engaged, as he is a “romantic.”
The public, crazy with excitement, is wondering when the wedding will take place, where the venue is, who is invited, and if they are invited. Most are personally invested, while others are simply just happy for Taylor.
Knowing this, many fans have to come to terms with the fact that Swift is about to move into marriage, which can be a very difficult stage of life, considering her songs tend to romanticize love and glorify romantic relationships as a whole.
Speaking of past relationships, what do Swift’s exes have to say about the engagement? Surely they would be extra jealous and not be chased by reporters asking this question, right? Wrong. Taylor Lautner has expressed his support for the engagement, as they had rekindled their friendship long after they broke up a decade ago.
In fact in an interview with PEOPLE, Taylor said herself, “He was a very positive force in my life when I was making the Speak Now album, and I want to say he did every single stunt that you saw in that music video…He and his wife have become some of my closest friends, and it’s very convenient because we all share the same first name”.
The engagement was so big, that even Swift’s high school boyfriend reacted. Andy Slye posted on his X account, with a photo of him and Swift together, “That feeling when your girlfriend from high school finally gets engaged. I used to tell myself: Andrew, it’ll be okay. She wasn’t right for you. I just hope her husband isn’t some handsome buff football player.” Suffice to say, we all saw this coming from a mile away; talk about forgetting he existed.
While Swift’s ex Joe Alwyn has been indifferent to the entire situation, Kelce’s ex, Kayla Nicole, deliberately avoided talking about their engagement when asked. As she had been compared to Taylor Swift multiple times while receiving negative feedback from Swifties, despite trying to move past the situation multiple times. Safe to say she and the Swifties have bad blood now.
Even so, many people wish them well and are looking forward to their wedding taking place in June of 2026.
