Despite losing 1st team all county senior Justin Christan expectations still remained high for Hammond, The Golden Bears expected to achieve more than they did last year going into year two under Coach Holly.  “Expectations were that we can be a force in the county, we can exceed expectations that other schools might have had for us.” Basketball captain Sami Baig responded when asked what the expectations were for the season.

The basketball team coming off a dominant win against a long reach plans to use this momentum to go on a mid season win streak. The Golden Bears won with a final score of 67-54, the overall belief of the team is that more wins are on the horizon.

They started this season with two extremely close games with the top 2 teams in the county and plan to solidify themselves as a top team in the county, region, and state.

Going into the season the boys basketball team had two main goals for the upcoming season. “Just gotta put the regional championship in our sites and the county championship in our sites, and that’s what we know we’re working hard for.”

Their early performances this season have been promising, as they started with two extremely close games against the top two teams in the county. These matchups demonstrated their potential and their ability to compete at the highest level. Now, the team aims to capitalize on this momentum and solidify their place among the county’s elite programs. With over half the season remaining, all of the Bears goals are still in front of them.
