The 12-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift and the two-time Superbowl champion tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce came into the spotlight in a rather unexpected way a few months ago with their speculated relationship.
On an episode of his podcast New Heights, co-hosted by his brother, Travis says he went to one of Taylor’s concerts and made a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it. After that podcast, many people on the internet began obsessing over this couple and were speculating that Travis invited her to come to one of his games at Arrowhead Stadium.
On October 12th, Taylor was spotted next to Patrick Mahomes’s wife and Travis’s mom in the Box at the Denver Broncos vs Kansas City Chiefs. Once the internet found out about this, the rumors started to spread,Travis and Taylor were spotted coming out together and getting in Travis Kelce’s car after that game. Taylor was spotted at many more games, and appeared to be building relationships with Travis family.
Travis received lots of questions on him and Taylor by his own brother Jason Kelce on their podcast. Travis has chosen not to say much about whether he and Taylor are officially dating but has said he wants to keep his love life private. Although, things don’t seem to be so private because soon after, they were spotted together in New York holding hands after their SNL appearance. After they were spotted in New York, even the NFL started to make jokes about how Travis Kelce plays better when Taylor is in the stands watching him.
Taylor was also seen getting more comfortable with the Kelce family and even with the wives of the other Kansas City Chiefs players. At Taylor’s first world tour show in Argentina, Taylor changed the lyrics to one of her songs, Karma, from “Karma is the guy on the screen” to “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs”, leading to an internet craze. The couple has become so well loved that it was a popular Halloween costume.
The opinion is split on Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift between the students and staff. One of the school counselors, Ms. Fuentes said,”I’m so over it and I’m ready to move on from this nonsense. It’s a fake.” Sophomore Tessa Draminski has something similar to say “I think their relationship has too much hype to it and honestly neither of them need more fame”. The social studies teacher Ms .Paparazzo has an alternate perspective saying, “I think they’re super cute and I wish them well. It’s Barbie and Ken”. There seems to be a split between the support of Traylor in Hammond High School.
Many people on the internet are saying it is a publicity stunt for Taylor’s tour or for the Kansas City Chiefs and that it’s not going to last long after her tour. On the other side of the internet, people are obsessed with them and think they’re going to last. In the games that Taylor Swift has attended, Travis’s stats have been impacted positively. Since Taylor started to attend his games, Travis has 102.6 yards per game and totaled 34 catches for 432 yards and two touchdowns since Taylor started to come out to his games.
The NFL has also shown their support for the couple by making many posts about this couple and even showing Travis’s stats before and after Taylor’s attendance during a game. There seem to be more supporters of this couple than those who don’t support them. This couple has already taken over the internet with millions of posts people have made for this couple and will continue to grow on all social media platforms. Only time will tell if this couple is just a publicity stunt or an actual relationship.
